It is one thing to be honest. It is another to lack diplomacy. Many of the people I have spoken to who say the are "Honest and True" are also "Opinionated and Unyielding"

Honesty and truth are perceptual. What is truth to one person is not necessarily truth to another. Thus, the other feels the one is a hypocrite. Again, truth is perceptual and often based on facts. However fact is based on information. And, if you haven't got all the information, how can one even remotely feel that they are honest, or truthful.

A situation: A man walks into a bank, robs the teller, and quickly leaves. Several people saw the man, and the robbery. However, when questioned by police, each witness described the person and the robbery with many inaccuracies. All the witnesses described the event with mostly correct information, but not all the information they relayed was correct. Each saw different things. One may have saw a black person. Another may have seen a white person, and so on...

Was each witness lying? Were they dishonest, or untrue?

Gesthalt suggests that the mind, when filled with uncertain information, will fill those uncertianties with information directly related to what is familiar to the individual.

A pilot calls his friend, who lives on Alpine Street, to tell him, "Dude, what street are you on? I can only find Airplane Street".

The answer is, No. None of those witnesses lied... it was perceived information.

Your "Honestly and Truth" is also based on your beliefs which are based on your perceptions of truth.

Another situation: Your dearest loved one is lying on a hospital bed. For whatever reason, that person is, with out question, going to die. Your loved one looks into your eyes and asks, "Am I dying?"

How would you answer that question? If you would tell that person "Yes", it maybe why people are shying away.

Remember: You needn't sacrifice your Values to show a little tact.

People are afraid to face reality of life - and - they can't believe some people are for real !! They don't trust themselves so they don't trust us. I've gone out with girls who say 'You're so honest - you can't be real !!' Call it their loss - who knows what they are looking for - they probably don't know either !! Somewhere out there is that someone special - hope you find her.
