An Exchange is a Mail Server where your email comes through. If you are getting this message while in your place of business, I'd suggest contacting your help desk. If you are recving this at home, you have something setup in your email that is incorrect and the application keeps looking for the server. If you set up a POP3 (POP3 is when you setup Outlook or Outlook Express to recv email from your isp instead of launching the website and logging in) within your Outlook or Outlook Express and you choose Microsoft Exchange Server, that is why you keep getting the message. Contact your ISP and if it's a good company, they'll walk you through the correct process.

Microsoft Exchange Server is a messaging and collaborative software product developed by Microsoft. It is nowadays a part of their Windows Server System line of server products. The use of Microsoft Exchange is very widespread in large corporations using Microsoft infrastructure solutions. Among other things, Microsoft Exchange manages electronic mail, shared calendars and tasks, provides full support for mobile and web-based access to information, and can support very large amounts of data storage.

I use this at work, usually its asking for the account server that you use to recieve and send email through Microsoft Outlook. If you are connected to a network at work, you might have your own email server which you need to setup in Outlook.

To get rid of this message, go to Start Menu, then type RUN, and then type msconfig and hit enter. Under the startup tab or services tab, there should be a bunch of startup programs and one of them should be Outlook Exchange. Just uncheck it and then reboot.
