Great choice, I go to sharm at least once a year. It is one of the world's best resorts.
- Diving is like the religion there, you cant go wrong. All the diving schools and operators in Naema Bay are professional and well equipped, rates are the same every where.

- Souveniers: you will find all sorts of gifts mostly pharoanic even though Sharm has very little to do with ancient egypt. Sharm is a great, fun resort but is far away from all the monuments. Go for an ancient egyptian Khartouche with your name written in hyrogliphics. You can also buy cool traditional clothing garments, not only are they cool, but also very comfortable to wear.

- Remember to bargain, prices are flexible in these traditional souvenier shops. A 30-50% discount is within acceptable range, all depending on your barganing power.

- Do not forget to buy the Hard Rock sharm shirt

Enjoy

U will love Sharm! I'm Egyptian and I have been to Sharm last February, the weather is great, although it may be a little hot by day... U will of course go to neama bay, which is the place of dining, shopping and night clubs there. U have almost all types of food although surely u will have to try our delicious middle eastern egyptian and lebanese food! Also, for shopping u'd better go to the OLD MARKET to buy souvenirs for much cheaper prices(this includes shirts, antiques, jewelry gold and silver)... I dont know about diving actually coz i havent tried it, but once u go there, u will find a LOT of ppl who can help u with that... but mainly u will be taken to a LOT of beautiful places, rass mohammad island, teeran... and so on.
HAVE FUN!
if u need any more info, just contact me and give me ur email and i will do my best to find the answer for u.

St Katherine's monastry is the best trip in the Sinai desert that we went on - it is about 1,500 years old!

Don't do too many trips into Sinai - you will feel like you spent your whole holiday in minibusses driving for hours to see something.

Not sure about dive sites but the sea near our hotel (either shark's bay or nama bay - I can't remember which) had beautiful fish which you could see just from snorkelling - so it might be best to see what is on your doorstep before booking any dives.

We didn't go on any day trip flights from Sharm but had spent a week in Luxor - Karnak is pretty impressive. If they do flights for the day to the Luxor area and they aren't too pricey that mihgt be an idea.

you can expect to at least pay half of what they ask for when shopping. dont pay what they are asking unless they have price tags. red sea diving....sea max is probably the best.....also old sharm you can get anything you want cheap! but bargain it might take you awhile to get used to it but trust me act like you can do with out it and you can get things real cheap, quality is good also, but beware of nick nack stuff quality isnt always the best, look for defects and if they aren't too bad use that as a means of lowering the price, everything you can imagine you can get it. lol
