Why not decide for yourself rather than following the herd? After all, isn't it cool to be different?
Don't join the mutual backslappers club - be different.

I think it's daft that people decide this because you can read, see or hear contradictory stuff all the time. Personal opinion is best to live your life by...if you like it, great, if you don't that's fine too!
With fashion, a lot of it is what's on the catwalk at the time, and that spills onto the high street and so on.
Don't know about the who's hot or not...maybe column inches and tv/film appearances

Usually magazine editors write about certain people who are considered to be high in status, such as Victoria Beckham, Sienna Miller etc.
Then the designers will get to work and create clothes based on this. The high street shops such as New Look, Dorothy Perkins etc will be flooded with their clothes.
Then in a few weeks, everyone will be walking around with polka dots, stripes and chunky belts.. or looking like Kate Moss, with skinny jeans.

The media decides, it bombards us with images and evocative words, for a curvy woman they will use words such as 'letting it all hang out, belly's' this makes us thing of fat. But for a thin women they will use words like 'toned, beautiful'. The media controls what people think continually.

I'd like to know that as well. Whoever it is owes me royalties on the " EXTREME " hand gesture. They nicked it off me when I was drunk at a nightclub, showing some girls how to make a shadow snail in a spotlight.

Society media do, they print it we read it and it becomes embedded in our beliefs that why we have so many confused and unhappy people, every time we look at a TV commercial, film or advertisement our subconscious says that's beautiful and I'm not.

I think society in general decides.Yes,the media does seem to start alot of it but if the people it's aimed at don't think it's "hot" it will not become popular.
