Hi, my method is just to exfoliate the area about twice a week with a good body polish exfoliator. This will stop the new forming hair getting stuck in the skin causing ingrown hairs. Also, remember to moisturize with a soothing cream like one with aloe vera in it or chamomile after you've waxed to help keep the skin soft.

The cosmetologist who answered in post 3 gives one approach.

It is possible, however, for most people to shave and not get problems with ingrown hairs or clogged oil glands. It is important to always use a very sharp razor and to use an effective shaving cream/preparation to soften the hairs. Using a blunt razor increases very much the chance you will get ingrowns or scrape skin particles into the pores above the skin's oil glans. An exotic dancer I know let this go without attention and eventually lost a week of work after having to visit a doctor and have an infected hair follicle taken care of.

And it was in a VERY uncomfortable place!

Women who must remain very clean and smooth most of the time have talked about what they use when they shave. Several have discovered that a mixture of skin lotion and hair conditioner works very well. It softens the hairs being shaved and helps reduce the chafing called "razor burn."

Waxing, of course, is quite effective. If you want to simply get rid of this portion of your body hair (it is an aritfact of long-ago physical survival adaptation and today serves minimal purpose) I recommend having laser removal. Pubic hair is a useful anti-friction feature if you have VERY frequent and vigorous sex, but otherwise it is not really any longer a needful or beneficial aspect of human form.
