Very true but seldom realized . All the search to know more about the purpose of our lives is to understand how we can achieve it .
Are we doing what we are supposed to or just beating around the bush ?
We want to know what our lives mean to the world so that accordingly we can feel our presence . The search is for the self to feel alive and not just live without a meaning .

Meaning is an actual feeling. When you have a purpose, there's a drive, a motivation, behind you that you can feel pushing you forward. That is what so many people have at one point achieved but then lost somewhere along the way. The only reason they are searching is because they have already experienced the way it somehow makes them feel more whole.

I think that its possible either to have bundles of money but no really good life experiences, or to live well with good feelings but no money! Have experienced both, but have to say that very few things beat sitting on a hill and looking into the sky. That has no real meaning to most people but inspires a feeling of perfect peace - barring a fly-by by British Airways, of course.

I think you speak of purpose vs. experience with this question.

Yes, I agree that most people just want new experiences (good or bad) and they don't spend enough time wanting purpose. This is a sad state I must confess, for unpurposeful action or experience is good to what end? I mean, the aesthetic man creates, and lives to build, provide, produce, invent, encourage, teach, instruct, and he shapes the world around him for the betterment of his fellow man (and in that experience he finds purpose). This is a noble man, this is a virtuous man.

For society's sake, the purpose of man would be interaction and cooperation (a proverbial peace mind you), for we are not alone and must work together for survival (why not towards a purposeful existance instead of a bleak and miserable one?)

I agree with one of the answers about the wholeness of the individual. When we feel, we are dealing more with the emotive side of our being. What does it take to make us feel whole and complete! Do we feel satisfaction in doing a good job or being creative in the arts? When life is going our way we feel joy and elatedness! When it does not, then there is depression and sadness. How we feel ultimately comes down to choice! We can view life in a Positive way or Choose to see it as ugly and Negative. The Choice is up to you and you experience life according to your choices which in turn affect your feeling of life!
