I have some problem solving these math, and please include solutions as my Teacher will not check it w/o one:
1. 500 KM. to CM. = ??
2. 60 MI/HR. to M/S = ??
3. 2500 Tons to Grams = ??
4. 6 Feet to CM. = ??

1 KM = 0.6214 MI
1 MI = 1.609 KM
1 FT = 12 Inches
1 KG = 1000 Grams
1 M = 3 FT
1 KM = 1000 M
1 M = 100 CM
^ = 1000 Mm
^ = 10 Decimeter

Not sure what type of work is needed, but this is one way to do them:

1. (500 KM/1) * (1000m/1KM) * (100cm/1m) = 500*1000*100 cm = 50,000,000 cm

2. (60mi/1hr) * (1.609 KM/1mi) * (1000m/1km) * (1hr/60 min) * (1 min/60 sec) = 60 * 1.609 * 1000 / 3600 = ____m/s

3. (2500T/1) * (2000lbs/1T) * (16oz/1lb) * (28g/1oz) = 2500*2000*16*28 = ____g

4. (6ft/1) * (12in/1ft) * (2.54cm/1in) = 6 * 12 * 2.54 = ____cm

i will let you do the multiplication...

500 km (100m/1km) (100cm/1m) = 5000000 cm.

See each expression in () = one. (100m/1km) = one because 100 m = 1 km. These are called conversion factors.

You can use these to answer the problems. Look at what you typed. The conversion factors are already there. Just write them as a fraction with what you already have on the bottom so it goes away.

Look at the last problem. 6 feet. Find a conversion factor with feet in it and write it as a fraction with feet on the bottom.

6 feet (1m/3ft) = 2 m (feet cancels out and 6/3 = 2)

now you want to get from meters to centimeters

2 m (100 cm/ 1m) = 200 cm.

6 feet = 200 cm.

For conversions staying within metric system I remember learning a funny phrase.
King Henry Died Mary (or Guenevere or Lisa) Didn't Care Much.
King = Kilo
Henry = Hecto
Died = Deca
Mary=meter ... Guenevere=gram ... Lisa=liter
Didn't = Deci
Care = Centi
Much = Milli
So, 1 km = ?cm
Go k to h[1] to d[2] to m[3] to d[4] to c[5] or 100,000cm
From the "kilo" to the "centi" is 5 spaces over to the right. The number of letters over in either direction is how many places you move the decimal point to convert.

For a simple conversion site of all systems and units just enter what you need into the Google search box. Example go to Google and in the search field type in
351 cubic inches in liters
and click .

The web site Boss is talking about is: http://www.worldwidemetric.com/index.asp

I recommend you get a scientific calculator or download the freeware program Convert. It can be found at: http://joshmadison.net/software/

Of course your teacher probably wants you to do the actual work yourself. However, since most scientific calculators can do the conversion.....

Go on any search engine and ask for either " Josh MADISON " or free download conversion chart. I have one that I got from Josh Madison and it works great.
