Okay so, I made a post the other day about my computer shutting off whenever my phone rang. I have a cordless phone with a DSL modem, and I've had my cordless phone sitting right beside my monitor for about 6 months, and just recently it started freezing and turning off. Well I finally realized it was my phone that was freezing and turning off my computer, so I moved my phone across my room.. that's about 10 feet away, and for the past two days my computer hadn't froze/turned off once. Then today, it was storming pretty badly out so I turned my computer off for about 40 minutes, when I turned it back on it started freezing and turning off again. I just took the battery out of my phone to see if that would help but whenever the cordless phone downstairs would ring, it'd still freeze up and turn off.
So, does anybody know what it is that I might be able to repair on my computer to make it stop the freezings? Or is it pretty much ruined?

If you have a wireless phone, with the battery out the base is still sending a signal. Is it 2.4MHz? Is this PC whether a laptop desktop; is it using a wifeless connection via wireless router to the dsl modulator? If so each time you power off the router and wireless receiver in the PC will reset to find the clearest signal; then ask is this what you want. If the range of your system is very far, you may be interfering with your neighbors' devices also. Again if this is the case, call your dsl tech support, they have some tools to determine issues; if not the will provide you with the information you need(company name ,machine name I.P. address etc.) for the router technician to finish the fix. Before you call run all virus, spyware and addware cleaning programs and reboot the entire system pc, dsl unit router for 15 seconds. that alone may clear it. It is not ruined; do not sell it for 10$.

its not ruined, i had the same problem with my computer using dsl. first of all, check the phone line filters to make sure theyre in place. then, if you are spitting your connection on your computer with a phone, try to dedicate a line to your computer without connecting a phone to the same line. finally, if all this fails, replace your cordless phone with a different frequency model.

for instance, my computer had problems with my 900mhz phone so i switched to a 2.4ghz model and the problem went away.

good luck, sweetie.

it rather is gotta be something with the waves because of the fact good until now my cellular telephone rings, my little 'egg' digital clock beeps. So now i attempt to place my cellular telephone close to my clock so I even have some greater seconds to run to the telephone if i'm in yet another room.
