Americans think they won the war singlehandedly because that's what our propaganda filled educational system tells us when we grow up. It takes a willingness to ask questions and interest in the topic to find out the truth, which is something many Americans don't have. Don't get discouraged though, loads of us are tuned in to reality. You just don't hear us too often because we don't waste our time trying to communicate with the thoughtless, abusive louts (some of whom you have already encoutered if you've read the other answers to this question.)

Which war, brainiac?

We were never in ANY war for "two minutes". And any war that we participated in, after the civil war, was utterly dominated by the United States military. Even Vietnam... we won every single battle, the people at home just got too sqeamish and public support fell.

If you are referring to WWII, by the time we entered the war, we didn't have much support from our allies. Only the soviets contributed to the distraction of Hitler long enough for us to enter and decimate the Nazis. We didn't enter the war until we got attacked, because we were in the middle of a depression and could not afford to get involved, we had millions starving in our streets. Ever heard of Hooverville?

We did support our allies every way we could possibly manage until we finally built up our force, which had been severely depleted from the depression and WWI. So you can't really fault us for trying to save your skins yet again, but it taking a little while. If it was so easy to resist the Nazis, why couldn't you handle it on your own?

With the notable exception of the British, who took a real beating and kept on hitting back with every ounce of courage that only real soldiers have. They fought valiantly.

That's how democrats do everything.

They let Europe get slaughtered while they piss and moan about why they can't help.

Then they come in when the war is essentially over primarily to keep the Soviets from taking over what's left of Europe while they claim credit for winning the war.

If it's the war i think your asking about, we did win the war against Japan single handedly...... and we were there for four years....... however Britain and Russia brought Germany to its knees.
