I've had it twice..... and both times I thought it was a ghost or something. I woke up unable to move or even speak..... Scary stuff. I told the rest of the guys in my room, and it turns out it happened to my friend Tate at the exact same time. Is it a brain malfunction, or is it proof of the paranormal... Who knows???

Sleep paralysis is definitely one of the scariest anomalies I have experienced, short of a bad drunken episode. Whenever I have it, maybe once a year, I experience auditory hallucinations, which can be very frightening, especially when you can't move! I am not sure why this happens but waking up during REM maybe the case. My psychology textbook describes REM as a paradoxical sleep, since the neurons in the brain engage in intense activity, but the voluntary skeletal muscles are suppressed, leaving you essentially paralyzed.

definite, i've got had it in view that i advance right into a new child. My mum, who suffers from it too, defined to me that for the time of lots of situations it merely occurs, even however each time I defined it to my friends, they did no longer comprehend what i advance into speaking approximately, so i theory it advance into merely me. It advance into purely 4 years in the past that i found out that it rather is termed dozing paralysis and that i've got been lots calmer in view that - it is so relieving to place a acceptance on it and that i'm no longer on my own! Now I purely journey it hardly and whilst it comes, i'm conscious of it and shop repeating to myself, sleep paralysis returned, i pass to evoke quickly, awaken, awaken!

I've been getting it a lot recently. I think I might of inherited it, if it's possible. My mind is so active that firstly it takes me ages to go to sleep and then I can't wake up. Most people find that hard to believe when I tell them, it's good to know there are more like me!! Bad for us though, I guess. Unless you enjoy it, but I personally don't. Oversleeping isn't my thing, although it makes it easier for me to recall premonitions. I prefer to live my dreams, not sleep them!! Anyone know a way of getting rid of it??

I have once...I woke up and I could see around me but I didn't see any weird stuff. I felt like I was levitated off the bed for about 10 seconds. I was freaked out after it happened but when I realized what it was I was ok. I just fell back asleep and eventually woke up normally. You can't really avoid it, it just happens sometimes.

Yes I get that all the time.
Its when the body is exhausted but the
mind is still active.
The body can sleep with the mind awake,
people with physical jobs get it all the
time. I can be awake and watch the walls all night
long and not be able to move.
The real pain is when you know you need to piss
you can wake up really aggravated

The sleep paralysis thing is an adaptation behaviour, it stops us all from physically enacting our dreams. Sleepwalking is a mild disorder caused by a malfunction of the sleep paralysis. So yes, we all do that thing.

I hate that sleep thing !!!
It's just like that other thing, and I can't stand either thing.
But what is worse than that thing is the Thingamabob !!!
If you ever had the thingamabob then you would know it's worse than the thing.
I am certainly glad that I have NEVER had the Thingamajig !!!
That is like having a whoseywhatsit and a thing together...
I know exactly what you mean !!!

Last fall I awoke to find the grim reaper in my bedroom. I couldn't move, he reached out to me, and all I could do was make the sound "nuuuhhh". He left, I lived. For for the time he was there, my body was not moving.
