I am short sighted, but only just over the legal requirement to wear glasses for driving so i don't wear them unless i'm driving, cinema, etc.
I am due an eyetest soon but i have recently noticed that my eyesight is TERRIBLE in the dark. I used to be able to drive the same at night as i do in the day but when i drove back from my mums the other night i actually got out the car to check my lights were clean and ok cos i could hardly see the road ahead of me!!
Also, whilst on holiday we took a trip down the caves (not wearing my glasses) and i could not see a thing! Today, i went outside in the sun, came back in the house and it took ages for my eyes to adjust to the dark again.
Has anyone else ever had this problem? My glasses seem fine so i don't think the problem lies with my strength of glasses, i just think its odd that i've never had a problem with dark/light before.
Please, no silly answers about being blind as a bat, etc, etc!

hi there, i am 29 this year. My dad is short sighted too but his eyesight actually improved last year, so he had his prescription reduced. My grandad was 93 when he died and was practically blind for the last 2 years of his life. I think he had cataract operations/laser surgery in his 80's.

thats a natural problem, when your out side theres a lens at the back of your eyes that virtually closes, to stop some of the light passing into your eye, when you go back inside the lens has to open right up, this takes time though, so there is a small delay while your eyes adjust, dont worry, if u still do, go to a good up to date optician and they can do all sorts of tests, if your over 35 i think they do some seperate tests because eyes start to get to the point where there not failing but slowely deteriating. hope this helps

Yes, I have same problem. I can get away with not wearing glasses for driving during the day but at night I would definately not attempt it. Road signs are virtually impossible to read and I also have trouble with lights of other cars either coming towards me or when I am following them, ( I cannot tell how fast I am approaching and I feel as though all of a sudden I have to brake quickly even though the car in front is still miles away).

I have exactly the same problem. My eyesight is terrible, but with glasses I see fine, except in the dark, where I am quite literally blind. I actually have a pretty bad astygmatism (meaning one of my eyeballs is rugby ball shaped), which may account for it, as my dad's the same. This has got worse over time as my eyesight has got worse, so you may want to talk to an optician to see if they have any useful suggestions.

Yes, me. I wear glasses for driving etc. I am constantly taking them on and off, which is annoying. And I hate driving at night. I wondered if it might be to do with light reflecting off the glasses. But that wouldn't explain why I feel the need to veer to the left or see things that aren't there! Strange.

I'm not sure but i think that not being able to see so well at night is something to do with getting older. I realise you're not very old but i've noticed too that as i've got older my night vision has got worse. I'd speak to your optician about it, you may just need stronger glasses for night driving.

You're a "grower" not a "shower". You're certainly not experiencing the "miniature penis" syndrome, where it is an actual physical deformity. However, there are plenty of men out there that have small flacid penises, and when stimulted come to an average length. It's nothing to worry about, and no, there's nothing you can do about increasing your flaccid size.

Hi.
You dont give your age but everything you said relates to age. Your eyes react slower the older you get. When driving, oncomeing headlights dazzle you for awhile.Try looking to the left when cars are driveing towards you. (At the curb or roadside edge). If your young i would see a doc or eye specialist.

Go and get a full examination from your Optician (not just the basic NHS one) and they should be able to sort you out.
Also check your family history for anything similar.
