What kind of chip do you want to put the software on?

In general to put software on a chip you need a special chip known as an EEPROM (electrically erasable programable Read Only Memory), and to do that you need special hardware and software.

There a few types of EEPROM's in your computer. The Bios, the firmware of your harddrive, Optical drive, bios of your video card (discrete) and to update the software on them you need special software.
