You don't. People are all different with different needs. But basically, I think everyone needs love in some form. Some people have a need to be in a relationship with somebody..anybody..rather than live alone. They bounce around a lot. This extreme isn't necessarily good either. Some people are content to wait and see if the right person comes along. You don't have to be actively hunting all the time.

The main thing is to be honest with yourself. What is it you really want? Don't give up simply because it doesn't seem to be coming your way. Maybe you're just not looking in the right places for the right type of person. If you keep having problems, maybe you need to reevaluate the type of person that attracts you. Gas and Fire will never go together no matter how many times you try.

If you simply aren't interested in a relationship, then don't feel pressured to be in one. You have a right to control your life and seek your own happiness.

It is not necessarily for sex though there is nothing intrincially wrong if one desired it for that purpose. And many do.Though this does not necesssarily mean that one need to enter into a social contract,say marriage, for this. One could as well have a live-in relationship.Unless care is t aen to avoid pregnancy the incoming traffic needs to be regulated .EVen though a single mother or father can and do rig up children the lack of familial atmosphere sometimes stunts their growth again dissuading from leading a singleton life.

So if you can really do it by all means go and lead a life as a single individual.

That's true. But most of the people believe that they have a soul mate somewhere in the world so they want to find it before their lives'd be over.
Actually, I find myself fine living single because :

you don't have to care about the other person, just yourself. It sounds selfish but sharing money etc... sometimes it becomes irritable and not hand-able.
then, we always say, "just love yourself and blah blah blah", but love ourselves I find it enough. Ok maybe, you can't make love or some other stuff you do when you have a partner but no need for that, right?
Moreover, if you need to talk to someone, you just talk to your friends, friends are for that, sharing, laughing and so on... if it's just some affection you need from the opposite sex or the same sex, just go ahead and get someone to do it, or just stay at home and keep masturbating ^^... well hope I answered you ;)
