At one time dogs were fed on meat, scraps and, particularly on raw.bones. Most old-fashioned butchers sold or gave away bones to the local dog owners.
The faeces of the dogs contained a high proportion of calcium residue which made the faeces white.
Some modern dogs wouldn't know what a raw bone was if it came up and jumped down their throat. Most of us feed our dogs on processed dog food and give them sterilised chew toys or bones made out out of synthetic material.
Hence no more white dog turds. Plus, of course, we clean up after our dogs.
Hope this impresses them down at the pub!

I have seen this question answered here before.
From memory it was due to the removal of Bone meal from modern dog food.

Thank God they undergone him and did no longer reason an obstruction. whilst i advance into an adolescent my collie have been given into my brother's crayons and ate all of them. they're unhazardous paraffin so we weren't traumatic approximately making her throw up. some hours later she produced a turd of the main appealing colours! So i desperate on an test (checked with my vet to verify it does not harm her). each 30 minutes I fed her a crayon of a various colour. i needed to confirm if it would come out in diverse colored bands or merely all be jumbled in.
