My husband purchased a Pedigree Jumbone during his recent business trip to Orlando. When we brought it home, we found a live fly and an insect nest inside the sealed packet! I sent them an email through their website but they didn't respond yet. When I got my friend to talk to them, all they could say is that they maintain the utmost hygiene and it probably happened because the store we brought it from didn't take good care. They are not willing to compensate because they claim that my dog didn't eat the bone and fall sick. I would like to know how could Pedigree take such a stand and not accept responsibilty! Why would I feed my dog a bone that has an insect nest on it only so that he can fall completely sick and I then sue the company? I think I am going to boycott Pedigree because of their utter disregard to animals! I am one very disappointed and angry customer!!!

the flies got born there, cantonpassion, because flies were let to lay eggs it it in the process of making the products. guess u cannot prevent it, but they should appologize. did u take protos - then u can post it on various forums for people to see it an to know the attitude of the company to such matters. personally i thiink thet pedigree is just more expensive than others while no extra value. you ar paying for the brand, not for the value of the product. that is why i usually dont buy much from them.

I've never had a problem with Pedigree products. However, knowing the amount of time from from order to stocking to selling etc I don't see how Pedigree could be held accountable. I don't think, too, that even as distasteful as that sounds it will get the dog sick. I mean I know what my dogs eat if given a chance - and if you take him to a farm sometime a fly is the least of the things he'll consume.
I understand you're upset - but it's true - there's little they could do on what might have been.
As for testing - again ALL pet food companies test on animals - that's the only way to test the food and other products.
I have found Pedigree to be one of the few foods that doesn't upset my dogs. Even Science Diet does

i can understand how upset you are..that would be like if you found a bug/nest in a child's snack bag...and then they wouldn't take responsibility for it! its outrageous!
but to be honest there is a more horrific reason you should boycott pedigree.
they preform experiments on caged animals...no, not just rats.
dogs and cats even
the same creatures the are "bragging" they deliver high quality meals to, are being tortured in their labs!

after reading those sites..I'm sure you will boycott them for a LARGER problem!

Wow that's messed up. They should take responsibility. But did you return it to the store? They probably would have exchanged it or given your money back maybe.
