I agree with some of the other posters:

Jgufo mentioned Batman. I agree. Here's a guy who has his parents killed in front of him as a kid. This trauma causes him to train himself to the level of an Olympic athlete and study criminals with a razor sharp mind to hunt them down. Batman could easily kill these bad guys with guns and knives (he's mastered nearly every weapon imanginable), but he doesn't. He actually refuses to even carry guns. All his weapons are for restraining or subdoing his enemies. KEWL!

Like J*lo I also like Supergirl. But only the animated version from Justice League. Good writers made her a watchable character.

Ian M has some good points about the Angel.

I agree with Allie about Storm. The movie version of the X-Men (which I consider a bastard creation not worth the ticket price) does not do her justice. Storm controls the weather and is easily one of the most powerful mutants. Yet the movie has Wolvie running around with his long nails in center stage all the freakin' time. Don't get me wrong, I like the little hairy runt, too, but come on...

Dustin is so right on about Nightcrawler.

As a diehard X-Men fan I used to read the comics when I was younger (back during Chris Claremont's run on the series... when it was actually GOOD!). I was horrified at the movie verisons. The movies cut out all the heart, depth, and soul of the characters. Pretty much what made the X-Men great characters to begin with. What you get is the watered-down, cheap imitation of what was a really great group of characters.

My personal faves are Batman (the animated version, not Tim "I have never read a comic book" Burton's horrid versions). The writers did an excellent job with the animated version;

Batman Beyond, again kudos to the writing department.

The X-Men because, well, I'm a diehard X-Men fan (...of the comic book version, NOT the movies). Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Psylocke, Archangel, Bishop, Mystique (though not an X-Man, but so what), Emma Frost, Storm, Shadowcat, Dazzler and Jean Grey (depending on which version) are at the top of my X List.

V for Vendetta. Because he's just too cool and really smart.

Angel from X-Men. He's had such a tragic character arc, I've just really identified with him. At one point he was on top of the world, loving life, filthy rich, handsome, the whole nine. Then, he loses what made him special, is taken advantage of by people he thought were his friends, and ends up about to committ suicide. Hes used by Apocalypse and turns away from everything he once believed in. In the end, its only that he cares about his friends that he returns to his former self and gets himself back on the right track.
