There are many thing to consider why you have to undergo caesarean section. First is your overall health status, any cardiac issues that prohibit you from pushing? Next is your pelvic structure, if this is the cause well then you really need a caesarean delivery. Sometimes even you're expecting to have a normal delivery but during the delivery process your baby does into distress you might need a c-section immediately. Otherwise continue walking that's a good exercise prior to delivery.

I had a two hour labor no drugs a 9lb3oz baby at home, no stitching tears or any other problems or discomfort afterwards. My first labor was 16 hours and a water birth same story, no drugs (xcept gas and air) no stiching or tearing and no worrys, best things ive ever done, when can i do it again? i loved every minute of my labors. i look back on them and smile it was amazing, know your body and go with it and if u can avoid doctors. i used the same midwife for both preg/labor/births. she came to my house during the preg and then for the births, my daughter was even at the second birth, slept thru till the last 5 mins. i didnt make a sound lol. labor can be a wonderful thing. but in answer to ur querie, you can do many things like get good continuos care from the same person thruout preg and birth, perinial massage to avoid tears, light exercise and good nutrtion, make it clear to ur doc u dont want a c section also position is important the worst way to have a baby is flat on ur back legs up lol, try moving to a place u feel comfortable, water can help take the weight off. if ur worried about going over or the effectivness of ur contractions, take blue or black cohosh, also known as caullyphyllum (thinks thats how u spell it). be informed. go with ur gut.

There is nothing you can do to avoid a Caesarian.
Either you need one or you don't.
If the baby is positioned wrong, or if the baby's head doesn't fit through your pelvis, or if there is an emergency, then the doctor will perform a C-section.
Do not worry too much about it -- I have several friends who had a C-section, and they were all fine. Plus there is an added bonus: your birth canal will not get stretched, as it would if you delivered vaginally.
I once saw a C-section in a documentary on TV. It looked very peaceful and happy. Sure, you have to recover afterwards, but I just recovered from similar abdominal surgery, and it was not even half as terrible as I'd feared.
Best of luck to you, and ignore the misogynistic jerk who answered after me. :-)

There is no easy way to having a baby. I hear you should go the epidural route and/or have a water birth....and accept that you are going to tear, need stitches and probably never be the same 'down there'. If you go into labour and then have an emergency caesar, you'll take longer to recover, be very tired and sore for quite a while. With an elective caesar, there's less trauma to you and the baby, it's over within an hour and you still have stitches that need to heal.
It all depends what is important to you....but don't romanticise it, like I said, no way is easy or pretty.

Raspberry leaf tea in the last trimester is supposed to help prepare the uterus for childbirth. Tastes pretty vile though.
Being upright during labour, circling your hips during contractions and relaxing your jaw regularly (when you do this you relax your pelvic floor muscles) are great little helps if problems are due to nerves and fear holding things up.
Ultimately the outcome you want is a healthy baby and problem free delivery, caesar or vaginal, there's no right or wrong way. You'll be fine:-)

Do research. Write yourself a birth plan. Know what you want and stand up for yourself. Hire yourself a doula. Let the doula help you to learn what you need to know to try and avoid a cesarean. There are so many options in birth. Keep an active pregnancy. Keep an open mind. Learn about optimal fetal positioning. Do visualizations and visualize yourself in your birth doing what you need to do to make it happen.

have sex. it loosens up the area, and makes you more relaxed. plyus if you are rough enough- hehe- then you may hit the cervix and trigger delivery. it wont hurt the baby- the baby is higher up inside.
that or the whole moving the washer and dryer- aka lifting heavy things. or basically putting your body under stress.
i tried walking. it didnt help.

you can't avoid a c-section and walking won't avoid it either, it all depens on the size and postion of the baby, if the baby or urself get into any major problems between now and thro the beginning of the labor.

Do not get gestational diabetes. My first son was 10.5 lbs, because the doctor did not test for GD, so it went untreated. And a c-section had to be preformed. GET TESTED!!!!

Either you have to have section or you don't. You can try vaginal delivery but if that's not going to get that baby out something has to.
