No one knows, however logic would seem to indicate there must be some kind of eternal existence of something. However what this is, or even if it is conscious I have no idea.

Your question, as well as my potential answer, are within the unbreakable clench of time and space. No mind or intellect can venture beyond this materialistic bondage and remain logical. So, we either venture a logical answer that is of the nature of the mind we are using, and that will get us nowhere, or venture an illogical answer of an unknown nature, and again, no guarantee if our answer is correct. Therefore, the very question is self-defeating. How can any time-bonded thinking think, grasp or even imagine what it was before it?
All information on this subject, without exception, are speculations and / or assumptions that have no grounds. Therefore, whoever ventures an answer to this question is misleading.
