They help control the populations of small arthrapods, either by eating them outright or laying eggs on some things that eat them alive after they hatch. (mosquitos, flies, moths, caterpillars, spiders, smaller wasp species, etc.)

They in turn become food for birds, spiders and larger predatory insects.

wasps do nothing! They're not even worth a capital letter.They have no right to be on this earth! They're pests, vermin and every last one should be hunted down and stamped on! Go out everyone and find a wasp nest and burn it down. Dowse it with petrol and burn it. It doesn't matter if it's in the roof of your house, that's what insurance is for! Kill em! Kill em all NOW!

Wasps are critically important in natural biocontrol. Almost every pest insect species has a wasp species that is predator or parasite upon it. Parasitic wasps are also increasingly used in agricultural pest control.

wasps are evil things that like to ruin bbq's , sting people when they are on rollercoasters and get stuck in cans of pop or lager. they can also kill dogs, if a dog gets stung by a wasp it will die coz all dogs are illergic to wasps, ie you look like a bulldog chewing a wasp saying.

Yes every living creature is in the food chain somewhere, insects are eaten mainly by Birds.

They collect carcuses of other insects, clear up rotten wood and become pests when the larvae season is over by getting drunk on rotten fruit and when they do this, is when they STING, stripey ba*tards do my head in ARGGH! I dont think they have MUCH of a purpose really, They can poison your food ,like flys do, after they've been in the rubbish bins, I think they are entirely useless.

My dog got stung by a wasp 3 years ago and she is fine.
