My nine year old's friend come over to play yesterday. Out of nowhere he said in front on all of us that his Dad tickles him in his private area. He said that was the only place he is ticklish. I don't know what to do. I told my Mother and my husband knows too. Do you think we should tell? If so, who (besides the police)? I don't let my son go over there anymore and I asked him if anything like that happened. He said no. When his friend said that, my son said eew. My husband and I don't know what to do. Please help. Thank you all in advance for your time and help.

When he said his private place, he pointed to his genitals. This boy has a Mother but I don't know if she knows. I can't accuse someone of something I have no proof of.

Yes! Tell someone! It happens more than you think, but no one tells. Start w/ his wife if he has one. Screw their marriage, save that kid! Follow up, if she doesn't do anything, tell the cops.

Calling the police at this point might be hurtful.
Call child and protective services and ask to speak to a counselor and ask the counselor what you should do.
It is NEVER OK to ignore a statement of this sort. If you don't feel that you want to call CPS then call your pastor, priest or rabbi.
Have you considered talking to the Dad? Sometimes you can tell a lot just by the first reaction that you receive from your question.

That is a bad situation i would maybe talk to his mother and just bring up what he said to you and see what her reaction is. Do not let your boy over there under any situation not that you would. You could also try asking the boy a few more questions not like an interrogation try to make him feel comfortable if you do find out that the Dad is abusing him you need to call child welfare services and get that kid away from that pig.

For goddsakes Vandie ACT!!! Now. Without delay. You think this is going to go away? Call child services, look in the phone book, start making phone calls, even call 911 if you must, they'll send you to the right place. This could be child molestation. What are you going to do? Keep asking us? Stop. If you don't tell you could be destroying a young boy's life. Is that worth it? Maybe it's innocent but you CANNOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ASSUME THAT. Let the pros handle it and they will keep it confidential.

First of all you have to think about the boys best interest and then yours , you can get in trouble for not speaking up because you knew and did not tell so protect all involved and speak to a cps office, even if it turns out to be nothing at least this way you can be anonymous and know you did what you thought was best but not reporting it is a crime help the boy and don't tell the mom it will blow up in your face trust me it did mine.

Definitely tell the little boy's mother and the school. The school usually has a counselor... if the mom does nothing, the third party will still be able to evaluate him at school to make sense of the comments and if there is truly abuse happening. The mom of the boy would probably be able to make sense of things if she noticed for herself that something wasn't quite right. Good of you to be working on helping this little guy. DONT do nothing, and you'll do the right thing!! good luck to you.

First do not let you son go near this guy. You might want to see what the Mom thinks and if she blows you off- you could go to the police to have them investigate. My fear is that of your son's friend and his safety especially after it is known that he said something. It may be nothing-- I would hope this but that is quite the unfortunate and scarey admission for a child!! Let the police look into it.

Vandie, I think before you think of reporting this, the child's story has to be validated because children tend to make up strange stories and fantasize. In the meantime, it's good that you are not allowing your child over there.
I agree with one the responses to understand what the child means by his privates, the child could simply mean the inner thigh and it may perfectly innocent, and again it may not be.
Talking with the child's mother is also a good option before you think of reporting.
Good luck dear.

Make sure that his "private place" is really what you think it is, his genitals. Because little kids might call their armpits their private place or the bottom of their toes a private place. Make sure you know for sure before pulling the trigger.
But if you do find out that it's for real, definitely call the cops on this dude.

Well lets start by saying "good for you" for protecting your son. You could make a phone call to child welfare (USA) or Children's Aid Society (Canada). When you make the phone call, it can be private and they never have to know you called. The agency will have to investigate within 24 hours.

Contact the mother about it.. You should really contact the authorities though.. That's potentially very serious and dangerous. He could be doing this to more kids too. You've got to call police or child services about it.
