NASA is not an Investment. An Investment is intended to provide a return to the Investor. NASA does not return anything to the taxpayers that fund it.
If all the high tech discoveries, that NASA caused, had been patented and then then royalties paid to NASA would make NASA a good investment. It would be self supporting and not cost us taxpayers anything.
Technology wise NASA is a good thing. Investment wise it is lousy. It spends all the money it gets and gets no money in return. That is not an investment.

Without a doubt. The technological advance you are currently reading this from is a direct result fo the space programs need for smaller, lighter components. Almost every area of human experience has been touched and improved by the space program.
Even TV dinners.
Well, unless your still using a Packard Bell or Tandy 1000. :-)

Yes.
The people who go on about how the space program is a waste of money and that the money can best be used here on earth...
really mean a bigger monthly check for them in mailbox.
The biggest three or four days for crack dealers and cheap hotels on Aurora AVE in Seattle and the bars is the day the "checks" come out...just thought I would make clear what I meant by checks.
I wasn't talking about paychecks..

Its a very small fraction of our national budget; and there are technological gains made from it - so yes I think its an important investment.
