In California, we recently had "a day without Mexicans"... traffic was virtually painless, but... most of the businesses were closed.
In just a city the size of LA, the economic implications, for labor and profit etc., are beyond explanation.
What's going on is something that has been happening for hundreds of years... the only reason it is all of a sudden an "emergency" in the year 2006, is to take the focus off of the invasion of Iraq... and to keep simpler minds preoccupied with smaller issues.
It's the divide and conquer principle being driven upon us as Americans, who forget we are the offspring of immigrants, to distract us so we don't pay attention to the many different ways they are ransacking our future.

No major positive contributions. In my experience, they are (in general) rude, arrogant, paranoid and have a tremendous sense of entitlement. The fact that they see Affirmative Action as a right is indicative of this. That they tell their racially mixed children to deny their white heritage and claim an unfair advantage as "Hispanics" only points up their ingrained racism.
The fact that English is not spoken in the Lower Rio Grand Valley, and all government documents must be printed in English and Spanish, belies your statement concerning their willingness to learn the language.

I think that Hispanics have contributed greatly to the tapestry of our culture. However, our border is NOT an open door. Just like in any other country in the world, Mexicans should enter the US legally and apply for citizenship, not run across the border at night.

The food and culture Mexico has given America is irreplacable. Immigrants are what make up America and without the Mexicans, Chinese, French, German, Russian, Vietnamese, or any other country's influence we wouldnt be what we are.
Who here eats tacos? That should be enough to answer your question...

Why yes, they have been a major burden on our tax system, medical system, school system, now they want to be made citizen's so that they can over throw the country (with the help of the liberals) vote, and turn the US into a 3rd world nation. I'm sick of hearing about them, and I'm sick of listening to their "Disgusting" language !

Well i am Australian and live in the US. I really don't have a problem with them..but my wife who is American..does.
Even when shopping, i can hear them talk spanish or whatever the **** it is..and it don't really bother me at all. But Then i see Americans go crazy and YELL at them SPEAK ENGLISH. Thing is though i guess i understand, i mean it is an English speaking country.
Most hostility seems to be directed at illegals though. Thing is how can you tell who is and who isn't?

Yes I do.
When I lived in CA I had many friends of Mexican origion. Just before I left CA a lot of them came to where I was living and we had a really good time together. I will always remember them. I could count on my friends and brothers from L.A. to back me up always.

Let them all immigrants be. U.S. take care of their frontiers. They and others will try to come. The alternative? Do not be so attractive to us. Well I don't think this is an alternative at all, is it?
