We have a role as the world leader is to many things to list here. I am appalled at some of the answers to this question so far, you children need to wake up. You live in the greatest country the world has ever known. You have more freedom the most people in the world could ever dream about. So your choice is to grab it and go, or sit back and wait for a handout. We spend more money in this country on 'da problems here in America' then your little brains can comprehend. Spending more money on a problem doesn't solve the problem.
Take for example the educational system, since the 50's the liberal establishment has taken over the educational systems. We spend 10's of thousands of dollars per child per year of school. In the last 50 years educational spending has risen to proportions not imaginable back then. What to we have to show for it?
Give a man a fish he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish he will eat for a lifetime. Everything you could ever want is out there for the taking folks. Your choice.

convinced it really is amazingly sensible and if extra troops were obtainable i'd help sending extra, and paying extra yet i'm no longer keen to furnish a dime for nationalized well being care. and that i have no coverage. I help progression roads yet no longer yet another dime to fix the bridges why? How the money and the priorities are allowcated. restoration the bridges begfore you get the cronies the paving settlement, do not you stumble on it Ironic that the minnesota bridge become being paved at the same time as it collapsed. The Enemy declared warfare on us. We were at warfare with Saddam provided that 1991 yet then liberals by no skill look on the bigger photo, only ther selfish needs, Screw the country screw the troops and continually help the enemy yet how dare you call liberals unpatriotic at the same time as Calling a Patriotic widely used a Traitor.

The truth is that war is a great money making machine. The decline of social programs in this country within the last 20 years has been staggering. The decline of educational programs is a great example - It is important for a government to keep its population stupid so that the "manufacturing of consent" is carried out much smoother. The US out spends the top 10 industrialized nations making weapons of mass destruction by a 5 to 1 margin.

because we have an administration that believes that democracy building is more important than caring for the needs of those who elected them to office...also because more people vote for the American Idol than for Congress and the Presidency. It is the same argument that is used against raising taxes. I tend to believe you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR....in Minnesota they pass alot of tax increases and have some of the best schools and libraries and public services in the nation.

The money is actually being used to pay wealthy businessmen here in the US and support companies like RMK-BRJ (part of Halliburton...one of Cheney's holdings)....hungry people do not pad wallets but war and runways, roads, bridges etc do. It happened in Vietnam...Dredging CamRanh Bay cost one billion dollars...tax payers expense.

We could save more by not sending over 15 billion per year to Israel. Why doesn't that bother you more than money spent trying to free people from oppression?

Makes you wonder who is the REAL Axis of evil, don't it?
Your great, great grand children will STILL be paying off this debt while our schools decline and your old age will find you without social security, living in a cardboard box.

Of course what I´ll say doesn´t have anything to do with your question but if the US is willing to free people, why don´t you help Cuba, Venezuela and Peru, get rid of Castro, Chavez and Morales????
