Slip the instructor a $20...worked for my mom.

Do you know why are you failing? You should know this from the chart they give you at the end of the test.

Are you listening to your instructor when he says you are ready, or are you doing it yourself? Have you asked your instructor where you may have gone wrong?

I failed twice before I passed. My big problem was that I do not know my left from my right and this terrified me. I told the tester and he said that, as long as I did not do an illegal move (ie, indicated left and turned right, or went down a no-entry road), it was fine - just make sure I did everything correctly for the way I turned. He would sort it out if we got lost! That removed my biggest fear (I thought that if he said turn right and I turned left, I would fail).
If the tester says you are not using your rear view mirrors enough, alter them slightly so that s/he can see you moving your head to see in the mirror.
I don't know what to suggest if he says it is basic road sense - except watch your speed (and perhaps get a computer game where you are supposed to hit things. Ignore the score, just try to avoid things!)

If it is just nerves, have a word with your GP and see if s/he can give you something - they will totally understand the problem!

Can you practice your driving between lessons? That is rather like revision - and practice does help make perfect. Despite one of the other answers, I would not recommend driving on your own - if you have an accident (even if it is the other person's fault), you will be held responsible. You could end up in court and having your license revoked before you have got it. You will also have no insurance as you are driving illegally. To practice, you need to drive with someone who has passed their test. Or do you know of a large car park where you can practice? Preferably one that is not full of cars! That way, you can practice most of the manoevres without worrying about hitting something, especially things like reversing, parallel parking, 3-point turns and so on (oh, and remember, although we call it a 3-point turn, you can do it in as many turns as it takes - it just says turn around using forward and reverse gears).

Good luck in your next one - we are all rooting for you!

Hi

I failed my driving test 9 times & have now been driving for 30 years. And I'm a good driver!!!
I was so desperate to drive & knew it was only nerves on the day. So I was very naughty and drove on my own for months and got so used to driving that when i took my next test i passed easily. Don't tell anyone except your instructor that you are taking the test. (less pressure) Practice as much as possible & if you can afford it, take an intensive driving course. One of the best things I have ever done in my life is to pass my driving test. Good luck.

Well, if your test is only for driving the vehicle, you should review the entire rules on turning, backing, parking, and always checking mirrors.
Additionally; if the Instructor asks you to do anything illegal or questionable, do not follow the instructions. Occasionally, they will ask you to speed, run a yellow/red light, or trip you up with advise that is not covered.
You must remember all of the rules of the road and not be coerced into any questionable activity.
Should you have more specific trouble, please repost and I will gladly give any information I can dig up.

Best of Luck,
keysboy

Where did you fail... that would help was it the same thing?

You can fail by driviong to good as well = lack of confidence... so a little over the speed limit on quiet non res roads may help.

Practice and relax... fav music before hand

try relaxing , take a big breath you get in to the car . when out on the road don't always look at the car in front of you look at the car in font of the car in front of you because the car two cars in front of you will be the one that can stop or turn so be prepare and this should give you time to slow down before the car in front of you
hope it helps
