If you look at the bible from a historical standpoint you find that it gives the measurements of Goliath. (David and Goliath) If my math is correct he was close to 11 feet tall. As far as modern basketball players I think Yao Ming comes close but if you want to talk men who come the closest I would say the Big Show, Mark Henry, Great Khali, as well as past big men in wrestling.

umm.... uh....whatever the full height of a rearranged Wooly mammoth skeleton was if it was set up as a humanoid?

Seriously, as the grypphon of arabia and middle easterm areas was based on the fossillized remains of a dinoaviarian, the giant stories were also based on the greek, and other early wanna'be scientific cultures, ideas that wooly mammoth remains when laid out like a man were not only large in size, but the nostril area (where the trunck would be for a elephant, was perfect for a mythical single eye. Oh but anyway, I ran off on a tangent.

what about that lanky chinese individual, Mao something? that plays professional basketball? He could be considered a giant, he's like 7 feet tall!

I think it's safe to say anyone reaching the 7 foot mark in height can be labelled a giant.

Giants are big.
They are bigger than that.
They are so big that they scare you just by being.
There are basketball players (like Shaq, as an example) who are like that. There are football players who are like that. Hell, with the HGH and steroids, there are BASEball players who are like that.
Giant is in the mind. Your mind. If someone seems like a giant to you ... they are a giant. Like the little mom above with the 6'3" son ... to her, he's a giant!
Cheers.

there is no exact definition of giant, but to say that it is a person of great size and strength. Shaq or anyone over 7 ft would be a giant to me.
