It's called the Blue Planet because it looks blue from outer space. (Search for Apollo space mission pics....you'll see the pics of Earth from space.) It's blue because 1) of the way sunlight hits the upper part of the atmosphere (ozone layer). Most of the spectrum of light that reaches the surface is colored blue. 2) The oceans are blue. So a viewer from space sees a combination of the two. The viewer will also see white (clouds) and brown (terrain.) It also depends how far the viewer is away from Earth. Some of the Apollo pics of the Earth were taken from the Moon. In those pics you see mostly blue, and white.

As far as Newton Galileo....You may be confusing two different people. Sir Isaac Newton was arguably the most intelligent scientist who's ever lived. He figured out mathematical equations related to gravity.

Galileo Galilei (we refer to him by his first name) was another scientist who invented the telescope (not the Hubble Telescope; that came 400 years after Gailieo) and was the first human to see close up glimpses of Jupiter, Mars, Venus and other planets within our solar system.

Newton Galileo is the guy who invented the telescope.

Earth is Blue Planet b/c the Earth is mostly surrounded by water and oceans.

Our earth is referred to as blue because when it is viewed from space it is predominantly blue due to its being covered with water over 73% of its surface. The oceans appear blue from space and therefore making the earth appear like a big blue marble.
Newton was a astronomer as well as galileo. Newton was the guy who had the apple fall on his head and thusly proved that all objects fall at the same rate.

Neptune is refereed to as the Blue Planet.
Since the atmosphere consists mostly of hydrogen and helium. There is also enough methane gas to produce the planet's overall blue appearance.
English Physicist Sir.Issac Newton born Galileo Galilei.

Since it is mostly covered by water, it appears blue (especially from space).
Newton was a famous mathematician/physicist. He defined the theories that every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction, a body at rest tends to stay at rest (a body in motion tends to stay in motion), and the mass of a body is what creates it's gravity. If you study statics (as opposed to dynamics and Einstein), you are studying Newtonian physics. Galileo was an astronomer, scientist, etc., etc. A true Renaissance man.

Because our oceans make us appear mostly blue from space.
Newton and Galileo are two different people.
Newton discovered gravity.
Galileo used the telescope (he did not invent it) to discover that the earth was not the center of the universe which was directly contrary to religious teaching.
The church put him under house arrest for his entire life, and he was not allowed to give that information to the world because it contradicted their religious teaching, and could be proven. For centuries the churches tortured and murdered anyone who disagreed with them (remember the Crusades?).
Science is based on provable facts. Religion is based on on faith in what someone has asked to to believe.
The dictionary meaning of the word faith is "belief without proof."
There are around 2,000 different religions and they all survive due to mans fear of death and his inability to explain his existence.
The creators of all these religions tell you that God personally gave it to them. What a confused God...giving them each a different story...hmm. Suppose they just might have made it all up?
God must be up there shaking his head at the gullibility of mankind. Especially since he gave us all a bull#@$% filter...it's called your "brain." Why is it so few use it?
To make sure they controlled you, the religious leaders invented ficticious places called heaven and hell. If you doubted what they told you, this "all loving" God would burn and torture you forever. My BS filter
screams "reject!"
To further control you they had you come to "confession" so they could really keep tabs on what was going on.
Religion was created to control the masses and their money and it still works today.
I have no doubt that something incredible created all this, I'm just not arrogant enough to say I know what it is (and I don't believe anyone else does either).
Your BS filter will allow you to use your intelligence and think for yourself...use it! I'm sure God will be up there applauding you.

Our earth is refferred to as the blue planet because the planet is covered by the ocean. 72% of the earth is water so all you will see if you go to space is blue which is the colour of the water. There is not alot of ground so only water is in earth. That is why earth is called the blue planet.

Because 2/3 of the earth is covered with water, only 1/3 is land

we are referred to as the blue planet because all of the water covering our planet makes us look blue from space.
Newton Gallileo is most famous for Newton's law of gravity. He theorized that what goes up must come down. He was the first person to actually study the effects and causes of gravity.
