Loads of them, and in fact too many to mention them all here. The best way to become aware of them is to visit as many different Indian restaurants and take-aways as possible and get a copy of their menu.

Probably almost as many as there are cooks!

Not a complete list, but there are all the types of curry from the Indian continent which tend to be hot from the south to milder from the north. Thai and Malaysian curries are very different. There are South African curries which I believe are adaptations by Indians who settled there.

The curries I tend to cook are inventions of my own using ideas from whatever takes my fancy at the time.

I read somewhere that Vindaloo is said to have been invented for the British. I have been told that no Indian would think of eating a curry as hot as that!

loads and loads-and each restaurants menu differs slightly from the next-its practically the national dish nowadays and the country is a lot better for it-it sounds strange but i think its gone a long way to promoting good relationships between the asian and white communities-a common bond and shared love of something thats helped to make us realise we're not really that different from each other.ive learned more about asian people since i developed a love of curries than i ever would before i started going out and visiting the curry houses-its great to be able to have a chat and ask questions to educate yourself instead of always relying on the tv or media to give you your opinion-curry rocks and so do all the hardworking genius's that make it for us!!
