The US isn't on the metric system for the simple reason that it would cost too much money at this point to change all of the signs and gauges to metric.

Because the U.S doesn't elect people with vision. The U.S. has little regard for other countries and education. It's a country that is arrogant and ignorant with a collectively low I.Q and E.Q.
There's no power or money involved in getting elected on this issue.

The bottom line is the bottom line on the question of metric measure in the USA. It would cost too much in machine parts and construction materials to change over. Very few companies would find it financially advantageous to recalibrate their machines, factories, robots and computers.
