Is this a common thing? I know someone that got stoned for shopping at a different shop. (at least thats what he claimed).....

In Malaysia? No...the state laws are separate from 'syariah' or Islamic laws. While the Islamic party PAS has tried to implement syariah law in Trengganu and Kelantan, the Malaysian government did not allow it. And if any stoning was done there, it was definitely against any state/country law.

Well, the present Malaysian Government is doing their best to keep the country as a moderate Islamic country. If the extremist opposition or certain militant factors in the country managed to gain control somehow, then this will happen.

you can get stoned from smoking dope ,
and that is against the rules ,
in a lot of places
so yes

and some people treat stoned people rudely as well

There's some muslim tribes that still stone people for breaking the law and commiting sin. E.g. Fulanis in Nigeria stone people who commit adultery (screwing outside your marriage).

i don't think so, i mean you might get a few stares but usually malaysians a very very courteous to foreigners especially white ones. you will get the best of service. trust me.

It is a very civilized country,nothing of that sort. Once you have visited Malaysia you will be wiser and fall in love with it.GUARANTEE!!!
