How Does a radio station get their songs so fast?

Hey i was just wondering that when someone calls to request a song at a radio station, how do they play the song so fast. Some people don't request songs that they usually play, do they have every song u can think of? just wondering...thanks

It's a cool DJ trick radio stations use to appear they can instantly bring up a listener request. I almost feel like a magician letting out a coveted secret but here it goes:

The DJ has a cassette tapedeck rigged through the soundboard to record incomming phone calls. While songs are aired, the DJ runs the tapedeck while taking requests. He/she then isolates one and cues it up to replay.

From there, they pick out the song requested, cue it up too....and when the on air song fades, they play the taped request call and follow it up with the requested song. To the listener, it all sounds like instant DJ magic.

No they dont have every song, but they are computerized categorically and also a little thing called live delay!
