Do you believe in same-sex marriage? And is it really hurting anyone.

I have no problem at all with gay marriage. There isn't enough love in the world as it is. If two people love each other, wonderful. It should be as simple as that.

I have to respond to the poster "Paul D" who mentioned "Soddome and Gommora"... I fear for the human race when I hear remarks like that. First of all, if you are going to refer to the Bible, refer to it correctly. Have you read those verses? The cities are referred to as "Sodom and Gomorrah". Next, that story is one of the most ridiculous stories in Genesis, or the whole of the Old Testament, for that matter. God more or less bickers with Abraham, which hardly seems god-like, then sets out to destroy a city. Lot is spared, even though he offered up his virgin daughters to the crowd at his house, and Lot's wife is not spared, and is turned into a pillar of salt, for doing nothing more than looking back longingly at her city. Then God rains fire and brimstone and Sodom is gone. Does this really sound likely to you? Next you link that ancient story of incredibly dubious origin to... tada... September eleventh. Yes, that makes sense. God punished the wicked in the United States by sending terrorists into a building so innocent people could die. Then again, you apparently believe the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is a literal truth, so I ought not be surprised.

Ok, end of rant. ;)

Marriage is historically defined as 'the legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife," so naturally that's the accepted definition. That being the case, how can marriage be "same sex"? -- it's an oxymoron. I think the word "marriage" is where most people have a problem, because nearly everyone has been taught that marriage is between a man and a woman. I believe that same-sex partners in a committed relationship should be afforded the same types of benefits as heterosexuals, but I would prefer it not to be called a marriage. A partnership? A union? But a marriage?...no.

Is it really hurting anyone? I don't know, because I'm only one person. I'm sure many people would say that it is hurting others. I don't believe that a same-sex union would actually hurt other people, and it would probably benefit the same-sex partners and their offspring. I just believe that by calling it a "marriage," it chips at the moral foundation of our country.

I believe in human rights. By banning same-sex marriage, our government is trying to take away rights and discriminate against Americans. This is wrong! I do not support ANY amendment to our Constitution that promotes discrimination or takes away rights of our FREE citizens. What's the big deal anyway, it's not like straight people have made marriage such a "sacred union" anyway -- high divorce rate, cheating, lying, etc. And no, it will NOT hurt anyone if two gay people get married. Gay people will still be gay whether they're married or not, so leave them alone and let them marry each other if they want, it's nobodys business anyway!!!

No, I don't feel that same-sex marriage hurts anyone and gay couples should be entitled the same rights and privileges as heterosexual couples. In a world where people can be married for 55 hours (or LESS), same-sex couples should be allowed to have their relationships validated for a lifetime.

I believe that who you marry is your personal decision. No it isn't hurting anyone. So yes, I believe in same sex marriage as much as I believe in marriage in general.

God is a judgmental person? That's funny to me. Glad I wasn't raised like that! I'd walk around fearing that I'd look at someone funny, be judged by god, and go to hell.

Whether I believe in it or not isn't really at issue here. It's whether gay people believe in it or not. I don't expect anyone to tell me what's right for me. By the same token, I don't feel I have the right to tell anyone else what's right for them. I know some homosexual couples are more committed than a lot of straight couples I know. I don't have the right to tell anyone who they can or can't love, and really, I don't want to.

Most definetly....You deserve the same rights and benefits , privelege and support that hetro-sexuals take for granted if your willing to commit to a life long relationship . A marriage is a statement that you make to each other in front of your family and friends and by do so your asking for their support and love to help make it survive!
