I not to long ago came from a comedy show where all the comedians were black ....the crowd was prodominantly black, and we had a few white people in the crowd, well of course their were racial jokes but none that were demeaning, basically ones that picked out our differences.....black people were talked about as well, and other races to, but not in a demeaning way, just pointing out our differences? holla back!

Not at all. It is all in good fun. I am secur enough in myself not to get upset at some jokes. In fact many times I find them funny too, so I say have at it!

I don't consider race a factor when determining what is funny.

I'm flattered when people imitate me. When done in a way that's making fun, I usually laugh. White people are funny. As a matter of fact, people in general are funny.

I'm so thankful there is so much humor in the world.

I'm still not sure why "white folk" would be offended by specifically "black comedy shows." I was more offended by Rosanne Barr grabbing her crotch after a tragic rendition of the national anthem than I have ever been by anything I've heard black comedians say/do.

Personally, I'm not offended at black folk pointing out differences between us as long as it is good natured and it is true. I am offended that black folk criticizing white folk is politically correct but not the other way around. When have you heard of a comedy club that had white comedians and a white audience and the jokes were making fun of black folks? I can tell you that there would be black folks protesting in the streets and liberal polititions enacting laws making it illegal for white folks to joke about black folks.
Don't get me wrong, I love not only black folks but all folks. I just like to see things be equal. We are all cousins and descended from Adam and Eve. God loves you as much as me, Jesus died for you as well as for me. The other thing I have found out over the years is that if I do anything that hurts anyone else, even if I didn't realise it at the time, God gets downright angry and He confronts me on it and I get kick in the seat of the pants as well!
Thanks for the question. It shows real sensitivity on your part. God bless you and keep you. May He make his face to shine apon you and give you peace. Amen

I am not offended. But then if it's not demeaning - and if the joking can go both ways as a joke and not mean - I think it's funny and tend to join in. We all make mistakes and we all have things in common. I think finding those things in common and celebrating/laughing about our differences is a good thing. Too many look for ways to be offended and picked on when there was no intention to do so.

Most of the time, no. I mean, comedians "pick on" all sorts of targets - wives, husbands, children, bosses, mothers, fathers, weird uncles, doctors, priests, ... you name it. Black comedians are making comedy based on what they know, their view of life. And it is interesting to see how someone else views you.

Now, if you want to know if a joke is racist or insulting or not, where they talk about the white person, insert a black person and retell the joke. How does it make you feel? It is just funny or hurtful? Some jokes just play on common stereotypes, like blacks can dance and white people can't, that's fine, we know that joke too.

And now a thought about zebras: are they black horses with white stripes, or white horses with black stipes? They don't care, they're just zebras as far as they know.

No but I am offended by the fact that black people still look for sympathy because of the slavery hundreds of years ago. It's complete bullshit that they are allowed in colleges even if their gpa is bad. It's ridiculous that a black person who screwed off in high school and has a gpa of like 2.0 gets into a college while a white, hard working student with a 4.0 doesn't. Slavery is over, get over it. Your ancestors might have been slaves but not all of our ancestors were slave owners. Instead of focusing on the past focus on the god damn present and the real issues of the world.

To answer your question about comedy:
I don't care if you make fun of whites. But how come if whites make fun of blacks, they are considered racists and when blacks make fun of whites they aren't considered racist?

ALL IT IS IS SKIN GET THE HELL OVER IT AND MOVE ON TO SOMETHING MORE IMPORTANT FOR CHRISTS SAKE.

Damn.

well, I dont get offended by the jokes themselves- mainly just the fact that if the tables were turned it would be blown out of proportion a majority of the time.

For instance, it seems to be perfectly acceptable for a black person to say that "white men cant jump"- which would be kind of a general and demeaning statement- but if a white man says that black men make better athletes, even if it is complimentary, its considered racist.

I personally find many of the comedians you are referring to hilarious, I like to hear their stuff- but why cant the same sense of humor be displayed when the comedian is white?

Many times things get blown out of proportion by activists who want publicity and they start an unfounded uproar. Everyone is prejudice in one way or another- EVERYONE! - but we should embrace these prejudices and learn how not to be racist. Accusing someone of being racist when they arent makes the accuser a racist themself. If we can accept that we are all prejudice in one way or another, we can learn to recondition our thinking- prejudice will always exist, but racism and hatred dont have to.

Not at all. I have a sense of humor.
If people would quit being so "thin-skinned", and realize that every race has their own little peculiarities, and see the humor in it....we could all have a few more good laughs, instead of pulling out the guns and knives to do each other in!
Too many people are overly sensitive. Lighten up!!

I think if a person is going to get offend about a joke then they need to go live under a rock or something. I don't get offended about racial jokes. In fact my favorite movie is the Queens of Comedy. LOVE IT!!

I am what I am. I didn't use to like Chris Rock because I heard him talking about white folks during a show, after that I didn't like him. Then one day I was at a friends and they were watching a video of Chris Rock, I figured I didn't really give him a fare chance so I watched it for a couple of minutes. He didn't discriminate against anybody he talked bad about everybody equally. Chris Rock's really funny.

Kind of a double standard , don't you think? When was the last time you heard a white personality who's as racist as Whoopie? Whites can't even make legitimate observations about blacks without being castigated.

I think you are sugar-coating the issue. And I think that's typical, the same way blacks sugar-coat Affirmative Action.
