they all have the potential to. It all comes down to the file that you downloaded. You need to have a strong active virus system if you are going to use P2P programs. The programs (bearshare, limewire, etc) will not give you a virus themselves per se but you will get viruses by downloading files from any site that has been attacked and infected by a virus. Thoroughly check your computer each time after using the programs. P2P program aren't the only method to get viruses so randomly check for viruses as well.

It's pretty much a crap shoot when you download stuff from P2P programs like the ones you mentioned. And the PAY (sold out) sites sometimes let virus nasties attack your computer too.

Always keep a good updated anti-virus program at the ready. Also , pay attention to what you're downloading: if the file looks suspicious, it likely is.

Example: Bad Company did NOT record "It's Alright Now"; Free did (Paul Rogers was lead singer for both). A music purist knows this, a third world virus sender doesn't.

And keep an eye out for downloads with suspicious file extensions like ".rar"; a red flag it's a virus and not a MP3 or .avi movie file.

I've never had problems with limewire. Watch out for Ares, a lot of people say it won't give you viruses but it completly messed up my computer. Once I deleted it, the viruses were gone.
