well if you want to get technical, 1 +1 by itself is not an equation but an expression, therefore there is no real answer. however, if you included an equals sign so that it would be 1+1=??? then the correct answer would be 2. on the other hand this same equation can be written using words and not symbols in the form one and one is what? on the other hand, the best way to ask this question would be 1+1=x what is the value of x?

1+1= Would be the correct way to ask this question, firstly.
Secondly, it equals window. =D
If you draw two ones close together, then put a plus sign to connect them, and then an equals sign parallel to the horizontal line in the plus sign and perpendicular to the ones, you make a window.
