because it's essentially the middle of the week, and once Wednesday is over, you're over the "hump" of the week as it were...and well on your way to the weekend...when you can hump in other ways.

You don't hump on Wednesday's? Shame on you!!! lol
Different kind of hump! Wednesday is called hump day because it is the middle of the week! You work hard in the beginning of the week, Monday and Tuesday, then you get to Wednesday, the day in the middle of the week. A.K.A . the hump of the week. Make it over the hump, only two more day's to go before it's the weekend!

It's the middle of the work week for most people, so it's an uphill grind on Monday and Tuesday, but once Wednesday's work is done, it's all downhill to the weekend. So. Wednesday is the day you get "over the hump" or get to the downhill part of life's little journey.

It's the middle of the work week - getting through Wednesday is getting over the "hump" going towards the weekend.

When you have gotten through with Wednesday, you are "over the hump." It has to do with graphing the week as low on Monday (getting over the week-end), sort of resigned to labor on Tuesday, over the hump on Wednesday, starting to feel the week-end coming on Thursday, and THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!

Because it is right smack dab in the middle of the workweek. After you get over the 'hump', you only have 2 days left :) People just think dirty when they say hump day- and now that meaning kind of stuck.

LMAO! Uh ... they're refering to the fact that it's the middle of the week and therefore you're "over the hump" and on the downhill slide toward the weekend. :D
