My doctor has put me on antibiotics to get rid of the sinus infections I have. Which is about 3 of my sinuses are infected. He has told me that if they do not help, he will have to do surgery on me. (I kinda want to get my sinuses cleaned out and my septum fixed). My question is how effective have you guys found these antibiotics to be for removing your sinus infections?

Well. I was Diagnosed with acute sinusitus and they gave me the 5 day anti-biotic along with a cough suppressant and a decongestant. I first got the infection in January. It felt like it was starting to go away, but it came right back. It's June and I still have it. I just want it to go away!!

It's important to try antibiotics in this case, as sinus infections quickly become resistant to treatment, so you want to treat them early and aggressively. Although it's unpleasant to take antibiotics and dangerous to over use them, they are safer and offer fewer complications than surgery. Always start with the simplest, least-damaging method and work your way up. Good luck.

They work well to get rid of the sinus infection, although generally doctors don't like to prescribe them unless absolutely necessary because bacteria can become imune to the antibiotics. Good Luck!

depends on many factors...are you a smoker, live with 2nd hand smoke...lots of allergies...type of job (chemicals, irritants, hot fumes/gases)...

sinuses do not get a good blood supply. Usually a good macrolide (erythromycin for eg) is a good start, but for someone who has chronic sinusitis, you may need a 3-4 week course of a several antibiotics...10 days macrolide, 10 days sulfa, 10 days penicillin deritive, 10 days fluoroquinone...

Antibiotics usually work well for me...In the past I've had my sinuses "scraped" which left me with 2 black eyes and a headache for a couple of days.......Believe me, let the antibiotics do the work and avoid the surgery at all costs........Take care......

Well, antibiotics do get rid of infections, that is their purpose. Also, usually, they will not do surgery until signs of infection are gone. My uncle had that surgery done, he was much better afterwards. Good luck.
