Yes if possible 2-7 days. That would get noticed big time.
Good idea.

I think we should. You choose a day and email everybody and see what happens. We may have an impact. I can go for just one day without purchasing gas. I usually get gas about every three days. My email address is Earthanastasia71374@Hotmail.com. You pick the day and I will tell my friends about it and we'll see what happens.
By the way, in answer to everyone who said it would never work because not everyone will do it, consider what impact we would have if only have of the people who would have normally bought gas on that day, didn't. And as we may not avoid buying gas every day, it would be good practice in order to help cut down on driving and find ways to drive less like getting all of your business done in one area at the same time instead of several trip throughout the week and also carpooling, etc.
Doing what you can is much better than no attemp at all.

They already do have one but nobody does it - i forgot what day it is ------- how it is explained is like it messes up everything and makes all the Oil companies go broke if nobody buys gas for a whole day --- i dont know if would actually happen like that ----- somebody with a lot of money needs to get it publicized ---- but if u had a lot of money why would u care about price of gas

It has been attempted, it will never work becuase there will always be an excuse for someone "needing" gas that particular day, also, there is no accurate method to reach everyone and chose 1 day to do this. The companies really won't care because even though everyone is boycotting gas that one day, they will need to get gas eventually. These companies know we are too dependent on gas to stop buying it.

Well it would be cool at first but lets face I don't think that could ever happen and if it did it might suck. Just imagine everything would be closed no mail delivery, no tv shows on schedule, no live radio would be a total bummer. On top of that it would probally hurt the economy worse. I could just see the stock market having its biggest loss ever. Instead of the price of gas going lower it would go much higher then.

Sunday used to be a day nobody could buy anything and life was good, but now, ppl have free choice to get screwed at the pumps. I think there should be a day nobody drives their car or truck. Everybody gets the same day off!

No, I think we should stop buying SUVs, but I am ahead of most
I drive the Honda Civic Hybrid
Cons of shutting down gas stations for a day are...
What if I am on a long trip like driving crosscounty?
Higher volume at the pumps on days were can fillup.

Yeah, but everyone would have to go out the next day and fill up so why would it matter? It's like saying "Let's go a day without breathing, that will teach them!" Unless you never buy gas again you're on the losing end.

No. I don't see what that will do. People will just go the next day and buy the gas that they did not buy before. If something is going be done, we need to use less gas. Like carpool or walk where you can.

You've just described a part of my life. I don't own a car. I live in Los Angeles and am often the only pedestrian in sight. But I don't care. I get a bus pass and I'm on my way. Public transportation is the only way to go.

That would be a fantasic! But to do this would require so much planning and I really don't think you could make EVERYONE stop buying fuel for a day. A better way would be to avoid one station that generally is more expensive for a week, then work your way down the list.
good luck@!
