Now they are sending them to college when most of us don't even get to go to college?! That sucks.
As to people correcting the asker: I often see the president on t.v. promising this amount to this country, and that amount to that country. I'm sure this would give the average person the impression that he had something to do with the funneling of hundreds of billions of US dollars to foreign countries. Don't forget the inordinate amount that goes to foreigners in this country.
For those of you giving civics lessons, I'll bet you believe your vote counts and that liberals voting in democrats cause all the problems in this country. Well, that makes you technically wrong as well. So while you are getting technical, remember this. We don't vote for president. The electoral college does.
All of the people spending billions on a foreign war, sacrificing our people, giving foreign aid, and aiding foreingers in this country are absolutely wrong and maybe even evil. They are the same people who claim they can't give practical aid to American citizens who need it. Don't start whining about 3rd generation welfare crack whores and people who shot at rescuers during Katrina. These people are a minority of the poor. Most poor people are honest working people, old people, and sick or disabled people. Most are women with dependants (specifically white women with dependants). So regardless of the technicalities, American money is being wasted on non Americans and I agree with the asker. It is wrong.

I dont think you are being fair when you say "our President" is giving away our tax dollars. OK, American Government 101 class here, who controls the purse strings? A. President B. Congress. ??? Ding!! its B, Congress. Now another question, did this problem A. Begin when Bush became President, or B Been around for decades? Ding ding ding, yes, the answer is B, this problem has been around for as long as dirt.

I know liberals like you want to blame everything under the sun and moon on "our President" (GW Bush), but if you really believe that you are just plain naive.

Yes, tons of money is wasted. Yes, the border situation is awful. Yes, US taxpayers are paying college tuition for illegal mexicans, (and you didnt even mention all the other stuff we are paying for on behalf of our bean eating friends). I agree with all of that, and it sucks big time. I disagree when you blame it all on Bush. Blame them all. Blame Congress for wanting their (mexican) vote. Blame business for hiring them. Blame liberals for categorizing all "immigrants" the same (not illegal, just immigrants). Blame several Presidents, not Bush alone, for not enforcing the immigration laws already on the books.

Many americans are just naive about how things are. They just wanna take the easy way out, and blame Bush. Well go ahead and do it. Nothing will change at that rate. When the next Democrat is elected the same thing will happen, he/she will get blamed, and the cycle continues. To fix the problem we must see what the real problem is, and act on it. The real problem is all of them, not just one man.

Actually, this very question is taken up in Thomas Friedman's The World is Flat. But there are other circulating issues such a discussion gives rise to. The value of tax dollars and what they are used for on the whole should be considered closely.

.your question seems totally different from your comment below.

to the question i would answer that george bush has not given our tax dollars away to other countries. george bush doesn't control that, congress does.

the proposed...or should i say rumored plan to unify north america has me concerned. i see it as just part of plan to further globalize the entire world. our countries economy is already being destroyed by outsourcing of jobs and importing of goods. we are now in debt to china of all countries....and yet we still keep ..pumping their junk in. 70% of walmarts merchandise is imported from china. on top of this now we are going to give amnesty to 11 million illegal aliens, including violent gangs like MS13, and other criminals. Our borders are wide open on all sides and we are in the middle of a war on international terrorism. it's a blueprint for disaster. merging the three countries into one will be a disaster.for several reasons not thge least of which we will lose our national identity, our heretage, our sense of who we are. what will be the fate of our constitution which has been paid for with the blood of so many? with our constitution our means of self defense...canada and mexico don't value these things. the economy will further degrade. to me the term global economy means reducing the economy of all the countries in the world to the lowest common denominator....in other words it will be averaging out all the wealth of the world among all the nations...or world wide socialism. we can not allow this or we will cease to exist.

renee you are confused on some things...we DO vote for president..you just don't understand the electoral college. once again the money you are talking about being spent is appropriated by congress...not the president. and lastly you act as if money that wasn't spent in one place would be automatically available for another place. you speak of the poor. distributing wealth collected from income of wage earners to others on the basis of need kind of sounds very much like a principle i once heard...i think it goes something like "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need". ever heard that one before?

Foreign aid to the People's Republic of China was US$2.4 billion, why would China need foreign aid?

Every country does it and it is to make them in good standing with that government; so more trade can occur.
