My real love is music, although I also love computers I do not want to pursue that as a career. My parents would flip and say that music would be a waste of time.

Follow your aspirations and goals. DO NOT let anyone stop you. Thats how the world evolves and changes. Because people say
"I don't give a **** what you want. I'm doing what I feel my dreams are. Don't let your parents or anyone live through you. If you wanted to, you could be a computer engineer who works with audio. I know many people who are artists and work on their own music and make a good living too. As long as you don't keep flopping around, your parents should back you up on your dreams. They may be dissapointed that you didn't do what THEY wanted but in the end, if you really work and don't just let them keep supporting you, you'll be alright. My brother is now an actor/singer and he initally started as an economics person. My parents were really upset about this but backed him when they found out that he was really serious and taking the inititative and doing something with his interest. GO FOR IT without any regrets.

Maybe you could continue your computer networking major and get a minor in music. That way you will have the best of both worlds.

If the are supportive of you they will not flip out. If they do, tell them to check out mtv overdrive and they might feel a little better. Plus, P Diddy is getting a star on the hollywood walk of fame this year, that may help too.

If your parents are paying for your school, stick with networking. After you finish your degree and get you a job, you can pursue music.

So keep on with computers and join a garage band until it goes out of your system. At least you will still be able to earn a living.

It is better that you figured out what you want now before you got a job doing it. Your parents should support you regarding your desission.
