My paternal grandfather had an older brother who died just after being born. My father had an older brother, a twin, that died just after birth; My oldest brother was killed at 23; My other brother had a baby, but his girlfriend had an abortion, and my ex-wife had an abortion against my wishes. I had a dream that this baby was my son, and each time I go to church, I light a candle for my son's soul. I have heard something about a curse that is on some Irish families, taking the first-born as punishment fr our ancestors worshipping the pagan God Crom Cruach, but is there such a curse anywhere in Irish folklore?

Does it not sound odd to you that in the larger Scheme of Things, your lives are important enough for some malignant force to chase up a curse to completion?

i am not to sure of the actual Irish curse and why your family might have it but i do know that it is severe and usually it is either first daughter or first son of every generation, and as much as i hate to say it an abortion doesn't really count towards a curse like this unless it is natural or/and not done by human hands for example if the fetus stops developing or you miscarry. as for your family being cursed how long has this gone on th death of the first born? and if you are so really worried about being the last there are things to be done about that ;) if you have anymore questions feel free to im me.

Hrm. I'm not familiar with this particular God, but the curse is a pretty typical one, though the reasoning you're giving for it doesn't make sense. You sure it isn't for turning away from the God? You see, many of the old tribal Gods of Europe (and the Americas and elsewhere as well) were tribal progenators and, according to legend, actual physical fathers (or mothers) of some tribal ancestor. So, in turning away from your tribal God, you'd've turned your back on your ancestry, your blood. And of course, as the family progenitor, they have the right to do as they wish with your blood. Curses on firstborn and other children, sometimes specifically daughters or sons are very common for the crime of turning your back on your ancestry, including your ancestral/tribal God.

Generally, the cure is as simple as building a shrine to the offended deity or ancestor somewhere in the home. This shrine should be passed down to the next generation, of course.

Anything is possible, as we cannot understand everything that goes on around us with our mere human brains, as logical as they are. While I believe Satan has power in this world, God has more. These people may have died for completely other reasons that you will never know. The idea of a curse could be out there to scare you and make you believe things that aren't True. If God has a hold on your life, you have nothing to fear, only to trust. I can't tell you anything about Irish folklore, but I can tell you that we will not understand everything in this life. I have many family members and friends, including a sister, who have died prematurely, and although it saddens me and I miss my friends and uncles and grandparents, I cannot expect to understand it all yet. The reasons are bigger than you and me.

Sweetie, there is no such thing as a curse....We curse ourselves by believing these old wives tales.......If you had a dream that this baby was your son, he is probably your guardian angel and waiting for you in heaven.....Please don't fret about curses, they are only what we make of them......God would NOT take a child as punishment, in my belief.....We all have a destiny and if we decide that we don't want to be on this earth, we go back to heaven and "regroup" with our spiritual guides, so to speak.....

Two abortions? that's not a curse... That's STUPIDITY! As far as the other boys dying, No... no curse, maybe some kind of inherited trait, that Dr.s did not know about back when. Have you ever heard of the R.H. factor? It is most commonly found in neg. blood types, as for my self i am B-, with both of my pregnancies, I had to have a Rogham shot to prevent my blood cells from attacking my unborn childs, if I would not have had the shots, my blood cells would have attacked my childs white blood cells to death, Literally to Death. I would have had miscarriages or stillborn babies.

I've heard mentions of something similar, only it was for worshipping Dagda. The version I've heard at was supposedly put on certain high-born Irish families who were influencing the lesser peoples from converting to Christianity. It was levelled by a priest in Kildare, if I remember correctly.

Could just be a genetic weakness that runs in your family. Your women have a weaker womb that possibly is predispossed to losing the first child before becoming strong enough to carry a baby to full term.

The thing about curses is that they only have any power if you believe them. Because in essence they are just a lie. And lies only have power if you believe them.

Conan had that curse...

but seriously, no, there is no such thing as curses (or god, for that matter), so it's what is known as a coincidence.
