I think it depends on the characters from the book they are portraying. If J.K. Rowling wrote a character to be 11 years old, slightly pudgy and blonde, that's what they look for. If you think there's a lack of perhaps non-central characters who aren't ethnic, write to the production company.

The Harry Potter movies have been cast almost exclusively with British actors. And they cast people to fit the characters as described by the author -- not too many Indians in the book.

because the entire cast is from the U.K., and there are not that many indians living in the U.K. Only indians in the movie are Padma, and Parvati Patil.

no they werent indian they were bangladeshi and bcoz mike newell(dir:harry potter4) didnt find twins 4m india so he took bangla. and even in bangladesh h didnt find twins, but he found 2 girls looking the same so he offered them the role of padma and parvati patil.:)
