reboot- go to safe mode, (pressing f8 as computer is booting), and un-install the aol pc checkup

definitely uninstall AOL PC check up. and do yourself a favor and just get rid of AOL all together. AOL installs more junk that people don't know about or don't need. AOL is also a resource hog.

I personally would try un-installing the aol check up, if you cant, a boot disk would help, but you would need the proper scrippting before you procided that direction. I would try just going through safe mode and maybe you will get lucky.

Just uninstall aol computer check-up, it's really not nessary if it's messing up your conectivity. You may want to re-install AOL. Or you could switch to DSL, like I did, $12.99 for 12 months at SBC,

Uninstall the last thing you installed.
Reboot.
