I shave mine, and no they don't grow back darker - what happens is when they grow back they grow back in the middle of the hair, which is thicker than the tip. So it may seem thicker and darker but that is not true.

Don't shave it. It won't be darker and thicker but it will feel like sandpaper as it grows in and you will have to do it almost every day. Use Nair. It's painless and you will be hairfree for awhile. Or you could get it waxed or laser treatments.
