http://gancao.net/ht/comparison.shtml
in a nutshell...western medicine or conventional is based on scientific conclusions from an experiment. however, eastern medicine believes that an individual is totally different from one another. apart from symptoms, before they start to cure the person, they need to have the knowledge of the individual's constitution (dosha - in sanskrit). for example, paracetamol doesn't have the effect it originally intends to have on everyone. Based on MY experience, paracetamol doesn't work on me... and other medications as well..only until i've learned about alternative medicine or ayurveda, i've realised that there are still a lot to learn to properly, efficiently cure an individual. I've not taken any medications for nearly a year now and I'm absolutely fine! Sometimes, alternative medicine gives ourselves to get in touch with our body to tell us if there is something wrong. if we keep depending on doctors, we detach from our body and sometimes it becomes the cause of our own sickness. havea search on alternative medicine or ayurveda... perhaps you could better understand the difference.

Nope! I'm a firm supporter of herbs in medicine. Probably the active ingredients are similar to what you use because it works. I'm guessing they were menthol/peppermint, wintergreen with salicylic acid, or have capsicum in it. If you check the pharmaceuticals of a hundred years ago, you'll find they had many herbs in the book for diseases. But, new things came along along with treatments and cures for diseases that before were then incurable. Unfortunately, the trend was to rid the pharmaceuticals of all herbal remedies, thus, loosing a great deal of history and potential cures were lost for a time or all time. Today, the West is rediscovering these cures and the benefits of Chinese medicine cures. There's a difference between aromatherapy and mainstream medicine. A good doctor well versed in homoeopathy chooses which is best for the patient, traditional herbs or modern medicines. A well versed patient checks out if alternative methods are available for a cure, if the Rx medicine isn't working. Or, sometimes seeks to combine it with the regular Rx medicine. We can't ignore the past. The more research that is done in these areas, the more we find that these ancient herbs and cures contain some very modernistic drugs.

It meant death for my friend this week. I told her to seek alternative medicine but did she listen? noooooooooooooooooooo. The conventional doctors said it was an easy quick surgery and not to wait, so she chose conventional and they sliced and diced her. She never recovered and was buried two weeks after the conventional methods were implemented. Conventional medicine is the use of educated guesses. The medical industry is backed by the biggest money makers of the world, the pharmaceutical companies. Bottom line, money is conventional medicine.

The opposite of alternative medicine. It's what is practice by most doctors. It's founded on scientific knowledge and based on research. It isn't flakey or trendy. You won't get recommendations to eat green algae to prevent cancer in conventional medicine just becuase it's trendy or it prevented cancer in a squid.

Conventional medicine, is going to your local hospital and receiving the normal, average medical attention. Unconventional medicine, is things like; acupuncture, herbal, aroma therapy, etc............... it's not the man-stream accepted medical attention.

conventional medicine is crap.Seriously though...conventional medicine pretty much is defined by methods used by traditional doctors, pyschiatrists, etc.; as opposed to alternative medicine which can refer to methods such as herbal therapy/supplements, spiritual and New Age healers, accupuncture, shamanism..so on and so forth.
