Simply, some are and some are not. To be more specific though, my experience is that more animal rights activists are against killing insects than are vegetarians. In fact most all of the vegetarians that I know like to garden and be outdoors and insects, not all, but some are destructive to the vegetables and also some insects pose health hazards i.e. meningitis so..... indiscriminately killing does not make much sense if you research the benefits of not only the insects of this planet, but also the effects that acts of genocide and war have had on humankind as well.

I often wonder the same thing. If you have ever seen the cruel death suffered by a mouse or rat that has eaten rat poison, you have to wonder why those who protest strongly about the use of animals (eg lab-mice) in scientific research are not strongly protesting against the use of rat poison.??? Likewise a cockroach after you've sprayed it with Mortein. Quite cruel really.

I do not kill anything unless it is a threat to me. If my apartment were infested with cockroaches, they are a threat. They carry disease and they are invading MY space so I buy "COMBAT".
Same with mosquitos and flys in my apartment, they carry disease and are invading my apartment. BUT if I am OUTSIDE and see a big yucky roach water bug, I would not squash it, it's not bothering me. I don't kill little spiders or thousnd legger things that come INSIDE my home though because they don't bother anything and don't breed and take over like roaches! So my tke on it is "live and let live if it ain't bothering you"

Well, I guess a mountain lion or a bear would feel the same way if they tore off your legs or ripped out your throat and left you on a rock to die.

To them-----you're just a bug.

Sometimes you're the windshield; sometimes you're the bug. Everything is relative.
