That's actually a good question well ahead of its time!!
Democrats have lost every national election in the last 12 years, but persist in blaming Bush/Rove for stealing it all. In reality, the liberal wing of the party is pissed that a conservative agenda is moving forward, even threatening some of their major policies of past generations, & with no sign of slowing. That's still 94-00 I'm talking about. In response they've tried to put up liberal candidates to strongly take them back in the other direction, but moderate swing voters in mid-America won't vote for people like that & all they've done is hand those elections to anyone the republicans chose to run (Bush). They don't understand that the mainstream either never did agree with them or has at least moved away from their philosophy & agenda. Take a look at the county by county map of either of those presidential elections if you like. They're too cut off & disconnected from the people & don't know how to make in-roads with them. They may call all of that crazy right now, but what will they be saying if republicans, even with Bush's popularity numbers, hold congress in 06 & 08, & win the Pres again in 08 with another moderate (say Rudy Guliani who wins in a landslide).
The Democratic Party must fight for its soul & survival at some point soon. If they force that fight now & the moderate branch wins, then they'll have a good chance to re-center the party & maybe win some elections. It seems more likely to me that they'll have to lose the 08 Pres race before enough reality sets in to have that fight. Then with a strong agenda of their own they might be abel to win congress & start swinging the direction of the country. If the liberal branch wins, be that now or after 08, then they'll continue to lose & not understand why, and continue to spew hate & believe republicans are stupid as a defense mechanism that prevents them from facing their own problems. I think they can fix their house if they are forced to, but if they refuse to do it & again turn away from mainstream voters than I can't say those folks won't turn to someone else who can better oppose the things they don't like about the republican party. Republicans have plenty of internal problems too, but even with a pissed off base they aren't as desperate to address them as democrats have to be right now.

It's not a civil war. At the end of the day we will work together toward our common goal of defeating the Republicans. But based on the way things are going now, the liberal side will win. See Jon Tester and Ned Lamont.

Last time I checked the only war within parties going on, is with the Republicans. Look how many want nothing to do with Bush in their campaign efforts for 2006. Right and there is a war within a party with no power, ok.

I think it's sad the only reason most be voted for the last DEM Presidental candidate is becuz they didn't like hie opponent. That doesn't say much for John Kerry. Just think Libs, if you would have put out a candidate that actually had some solution he/she would have been elected quite easily.
Dems just don't get it, Repiblicans don't care about Dems, they care about their issues. If Dems spent as much time creating useful solutions as they do crying about what the republicans do, I might even vote for them.
For the record, I'm a Libertarian.

Heck with it: stick 'em all on a barren area island with a container of suits, a great feral hog and a single looking knife. If any of 'em are left after a month, placed 'em in a zoo. Y'won't need an extremely huge zoo...
