You might think I am crazy, but after returning from the islands in December I had very bad sunburn all over. I tried aloe Vera gel and it helped but did not relieve the pain for very long, then my grandma told me to use diluted vinegar, about a cup of vinegar in a cool bath and that did it. I poured a small amount on a wet wash cloth and put it on my face. IT WORKS. Be careful not to get it in your eyes!

The other answers seem like they could work. Maybe you should look into buying an aloe plant. That way if it happens again, you won't have to worry about whether or not a store is open. The other bonus is that it works on bug bites too.

Definitely Aloe Vera gel. I keep it in the fridge & it feels sooooo good when you put it on the sunburned area.
& Tylenol for pain & temp.

You can use aloe vera to ease the pain or keep it from itching. Also, you can buy jars of coconut oil, and smooth a very thin layer over the burn, and it will turn to tan overnight and also prevent peeling.

Aloe is good, though a paste made of baking soda and water is great for pulling the heat out (I had sun poisoning once and that is what the doctor told me to do).

Sunscreen in the future . . .

There aren't many that I know of that work. Really, just Aloe to control the pain.

Your doctor could probably provide some kind of pain killer.

Aloe Vera: don't get the lotion that only has a percentage of aloe vera. Get the aloe vera gel, that's 100% aloe vera; it soothes the burn quickly.

I wish there was! But it's hard to find something, because most burn treatments, (lotion, creams) clog pores and cause breakouts ONTOP of the sunburn. Bad stuff!
