we moved my filter into the garage about 12 feet away from pool and this year were having a hard time keeping algae down,someone said this could be the problem.does anyone know for sure?thanks.

No, our filter is much farther away than that. You could need new filtration material or something could be wrong with your chlorinator.

Not likely. Chances are you are not keeping your chemicals at the proper levels. Check your pH and Chlorine on a daily basis to maintain your pool. Also, be sure to treat for algae with shock when needed, or with algae killer. Some pools are very hard to keep algae free, especially if you have been having a lot of rainfall lately. I would suggest going to the closest pool chemical store and asking about proper pool maintenance.

You have reduced the amount of water being filtered per minute. But that can be overcome simply by running the filter system a bit longer. Same result.

Algae is caused by sunlight; You have to keep the correct chemicals in balance; Also "shock" the water.

Algae spores are in the air...

No matter how much chlorine you use, it will grow as long as there is sunlight and water.

All you can do is add "shock" to kill the algae.

The Chlorine "will" kill any thing it can grow on, but, if left long enough, with out aggitation, it will grow.
