I had this book when I was young, and I'm trying to find it... I think it was called Babarbera, or something like that. It was about a pink animal that could change its shape to anything he wanted. In another book, he had a wife who was a black animal, and she could also change her shape. They had children (all born in the ground like plants) who were all different colors... in one story they were being hunted, so they left earth in a spaceship.
If anyone remembers the actual title or author, please let me know!!!

You guys are awesome!!! That's exactly what I was looking for. I just googled the title and found an official website! Too bad the books are out of print, I looked on ebay, and they are quite popular! (one seller wants $80!!) Thanks again.

The Barbapapas! And Barbamama, and Barbasue... I knew them from an animated series.
