You have to stand in line forever.There are so many checkout lanes built yet only a few are ever open to check out custermers.

It has nothing to do with how much money wal-mart makes. It has to do with how many people apply for the job and how many of those that apply actually get hired. but just because a person applies does not mean they will get hired. Being a cashier in a wal-mart, especially a supercenter is not an easy job. You just stand there in one spot all day scanning things for customers. I dont want to sound mean, but go apply for a job as a cashier at a wal-mart and see how you like it. Especially on the first of the month

Because Walmart is a money grabbing Whore.
They don't want to spend money on More Cashiers.
The Walmart execs want to pocket the money.
If they could Walmart would probably have only those self Checkout lanes where you do it yourself...Then they wouldn't need cashiers.

It's because all they ever hire is 16 year olds who have better things to do than check you out with your made in china-china.
